Heavener School Board honored at meeting

The Heavener School Board was honored during Monday’s meeting with certificates and refreshments as January is school board appreciation meeting.

Present were all school board members: President Dylan Roberts, along with members Danny Yandell, Ralph Perdue Jr., Michael White and Tim Davis.

One of the main topics during the meeting was the upcoming eclipse April 7-9 with crowds of approximately 250,000 expected to flood the area during that period, which could cause the school to be virtual during April 8-9. April 7 is a Sunday. It is estimated it will be another 20 years before an eclipse is visible. The last major eclipse was in 2021.

As the moon’s shadow travels northeast, totality in the U.S. will begin in Texas at 1:27 p.m. CDT. The path will cut diagonally across the country, traveling through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.
